Acne + Acne Scarring

Acne occurs when the oil produced by the sebaceous glands does not reach the surface of the skin, but is trapped in tiny pores or follicles. This plug may close off the pore, causing the follicle wall to bulge, which then creates a white head. If the pore stays open, the top surface of the plug may darken, causing a blackhead. In both cases, the P acne bacteria thrives in the clogged follicles. When the bacteria and pus leak and spread into the surrounding tissues, pimples are formed. Acne can cause permanent, indented scars, pigmented staining and enlarged pores.

Medical-Grade Chemical Peels use acids such as Glycolic/Retinol, Lactic/Kojic, Salicylic Acid, TCA, Jessner and the VI Peel. Chemical peels slough away clogged skin cells, dissolve and remove excess oil, destroy acne-causing bacteria, replenish hydration and reduce inflammation, while tightening pores. 6-10 treatments are recommended, 3-6 weeks apart. Followed by at-home, medical-grade skincare prescription products that contain vital ingredients to treat and prevent acne, such as a combination of Salicylic, Glycolic and Lactic Acids, Benzoyl Peroxide, Retinols and/or Retin-A and appropriate moisturizers.
